I like to snack. Every. Single. Day. Because of that, I absolutely need very healthy snacks. Snacks that are sweet and tasty (I’m not that much into savory snack), but also rich in protein. On a vegan or vegetarian diet, it can be hard to get enough protein, or maybe vegetarian are more conscious about the protein they need. So I like to make sure that most of my meals, from breakfast to dinner not only bring vitamins and minerals, but also iron and protein. I often make recipes like my High Protein Yogurt Parfait, Pumpkin Protein Balls, or Mango Protein Smoothie, but sometimes I want something creamy and full of chocolate.
Ingredients and Substitutions
Vegan Yogurt of Choice – Any plant-based yogurt works, from soy to cashew and all the ones in the middle. Unsweetened Cocoa Powder – I like to use unsweetened cocoa powder to make it easier to balance the sweetness. You can also use cacao powder. Chocolate Protein Powder – I used MacroMike’s protein powder which is almond based, but you can use peanut or pea protein powder as well. Soy Milk – I like soy milk because it brings even more protein, but you can use any milk you like, such as coconut milk, almond milk, or cashew milk. Maple Syrup – Any liquid sweetener works, like agave syrup or coconut nectar. Pick what you prefer!
